Shutdown: September 18, 2026 is the operator-stated actual day the hosted AI workspace became export-only, corroborated by the dated version 2.0 release note and the operator’s sunset architecture document. It is not merely a passed plan. October 18 was the later export/data-deletion deadline, not the AI task cutoff; actual deletion execution was not audited. The first announcement day, cutoff hour and time zone are unverified. Hosted is an explicit scope qualifier for the original managed SurfSense service, not an assertion that the company or whole project ended. Original cloud instructions, terms and account-entry source establish an independently authenticated, credit-metered, provider-held account/workspace with a complete document-to-answer/research/generation workflow. The old desktop client also redirects to the hosted sunset, so this is not just withdrawal of the browser channel. Continuing local 2.x, user-operated self-hosting, raw scraper/MCP primitives, license sales and newer plugins are excluded. No customer sign-in, export, purge or runtime mutation was performed.
