Wavii team and CEO — original permanent-service-closure statement ↗ · Checked 9 Oct 2026
Sources and verification
- Shutdown
- The displayed April 26, 2013 day is an inferred observation/report proxy: the Wayback capture preserves the operator’s permanent cease-service statement on that day. Additional corroborating provenance is retained in the evidence ledger. The exact actual service cutoff, original statement-publication timestamp, cutoff hour and time zone remain unverified. This is not a date inferred solely from an acquisition or an unavailable host. The scope is the entire independently named personalized news app and web service; Google’s continuing research and other services are outside the record. The original site identifies Wavii Inc. Its Seattle address is only a historical postal contact city, with no coordinates or current office inferred. Closure source

- Launch
- The initial launch date is unverified. The January 16, 2013 archived original site already describes an available independent news-feed service; that capture is not treated as its launch day.
- Location
- United States · Seattle. The original contact page, captured January 16, 2013, lists a Wavii postal address in Seattle, Washington, USA. This verifies the historical contact city only; it is not a current office, server location or coordinate source. Location source
