Sources and verification
- Shutdown
- August 1, 2023 is the actual reported app-cutoff day: Viola Zhou’s original report explicitly describes midnight completion, interviews CEO Joe Guo and creator Maxine Zhang, and records users’ post-closure experience. The early-July announcement has no verified exact day; the cutoff timezone is not specified. Its core AI task was user-customized synthesized voices in a complete companion calling/message app; human staff wrote the scripts, so this is not described as free-form LLM dialogue. The original app closure does not close Timedomain’s ACE Studio, voice technology, saved recordings or a user-made clone. Timedomain is the verified operator brand; no unsupported legal suffix or office location is inferred. The current US corporate-contact address is not retroactively applied to the 2023 app. Closure source
