- Shutdown
- October 15, 2026 is the explicitly announced future service-end day, not a confirmed completed shutdown. ZDNet Korea’s September15 original report was personally read in the native browser and reproduces the user notice, quotes Kakao, and distinguishes the complete independent app/PC service from continuing Kanana in KakaoTalk, ChatGPT in Kakao, Kakao Tools and PlayMCP. Users were told to back up conversations and separately download generated images by October14; after that, access is restricted and data destruction is planned at end. No cutoff hour or time zone is specified; October14 is backup deadline, not the displayed service-end day. The original mate.kanana.ai user entry did not resolve during this visit; its failure is not closure proof. Official Kakao launch material independently establishes standalone app, account, complete AI task and operator. The broader Kanana model family and embedded KakaoTalk services are excluded from shutdown scope. No product-specific operating city or coordinates were verified. Closure source
